If Safari is not affected, you may have installed a malicious Chrome extension. Remove all extensions you don't know you need. If in doubt, remove all of them.

If an extension is not causing the problem, create a new Chrome user profile. Note that you can salvage your bookmarks from the existing profile.

Chrome can sync your account settings between devices, so if you enable that feature, malicious profile data can spread from one to another in a virus-like way.

Some one I know got hit by this today. Firefox 44 OSX 10.7. Exploit sounded like it happened right inside the browser.

Can a firefox plugin install programs outside of firefox? How concerned should they be about some other type of hidden malware being installed on there computer from this toolbar? Is removing the plugin, reseting the homepage, and reseting the search good enough to clear this up?

In Firefox, click on Tools, select Add-ons, select Extensions, there will be an entry for OnlineMapFinder with two options -- disable or remove. Choose whichever you prefer.

There is a confirmation thank you webpage that you are transported to if you remove, and an opportunity to fill out a quick survey (3 or 4 questions) indicating why removal was chosen.
