to add a wifi interface after you have removed it do the following

system preferences > choose network preference (3rd Row) Grey Globe

on the window in the bottom left corner click on +

in the Popup Menu, under interface choose wifi from drop down > then create

this adds the wifi interface to network preferences

you will then see the wifi icon on the Menu Bar (top right)

where you can click and choose your wifi network
