Final draft 8 not working with OS X El Capitan, 10.11.3

Hello there!

I have Final Draft 8 on my computer and my OS is OS X El Capitan version 10.11.3.

When I try to open Final draft, I immediately get a message that says Final Draft quit unexpectedly.. etc.

I've tried to install it too, and I get the message "Final Draft requires a newer version of Mac OS X...OS X 10.4.11, or later.." Don't I have a later OS than what is required? I also recently got a new hard drive installed and am wondering if that has anything to do with it. I am really trying to avoid having to buy Final Draft again as I cannot afford it and am trying to write a script!

I have to admit I am not a Mac genius - so any help / suggestions appreciated.

Thank you!

Dana

Hindsight is always 20/20

that being said when and update "breaks" compatibility with a piece of software you should be aware Apple does not fix anything outside of Apple.

when a piece of software no longer runs check with the developer first and see if they know

secondly and probably more important, get an inexpensive external hard drive and keep a backup of your computer with Time Machine in the event there is no working solution for that problem other than to "roll back" to an instance of your computer where that software and the OS functioned properly.

If you already have a backup this is the single easiest way to restore functionality when no other answer is obvious at the time.
