How do I get my iPhone 6s Plus to connect to my car's Bluetooth automatically

HI everyone,

I have a 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek , I've just recently switched from a Samsung Galaxy S5 to the Iphone 6S Plus. So far I love it!

With my S5, my phone would automatically connect to my car's Bluetooth with no problems, but now with my 6S Plus it will not! (I have the latest iOS update) I have to manually go into the Bluetooth section in my iphone to connect my iphone to Bluetooth! There has to be a way where my iPhone should automatically

connect to my car when I turn it on. I miss that feature with my old phone.

Thank you for the feedback in advance.

I found a way to do it! You'll need to delete the paired phone from the car and also select forget this device on your iPhone. After that push the call button and name the phone, then ask to setup! the automated voice will prompt you the while way through it. Now the phone automatically connects every time my car turns on without pushing any buttons! Easy fix, just had to read a lot of different forums for help.

Delete the pairing from both the head unit and the phone, then re-boot both. Most head units have a 'reset' switch, though it can be difficult to locate on some. You may need to disconnect the battery for about 5 minutes to completely re-set the head unit. (make a note of any saved radio pre-sets, etc. disconnecting the battery may result in losing all custom settings on the system)

Then re-pair them.

Toyota has a substantial interest in Subaru. I don't hear many complaints about the systems in Subaru's in general, but Toyota is another story. They do not have a good track record when it comes to bluetooth compatibility. It's possible the system in your car is a carry over from a Toyota model.

I have a 2015 Crosstrek XV with the type D radio/Stereo. My 4 year old HTC One XL would automatically connect but the new iPhone 6S with iOS 9.3 won't. Major disappointment as hands free is a major importance to me. Hopefully there will be an upgrade (iOS 9.31 or 9.4?) as people get in trouble with the law without this.

Two work arounds.

Solution 1: This is great if you don't want to touch your phone because you have a hand bag, man bag or don't want to remove the phone from your jacket.

You need to do it every time but don't need to touch your phone which is dangerous and illegal.

Step 0: start your car or turn radio on.

Step 1: Press "MENU" button on the stereo. The "Pair Audio'"should appear. (We are not going to pair, just connect)

Step 2: Rotate the "TEXT" button until "Select Audio" appears

Step 3: Press the "TEXT" button "iPhone" should appear (whatever you've called it)

Step 4: Rotate the "TEXT" button till "confirm" appears

Step 5: Press the "TEXT" button. The phone should now be connected and you can make handsfree calls.

It takes about 10 seconds to do.

I find that unless the music app is killed the music starts. Just switch to radio.

Solution 2. This involves manually connecting.

1 Open the Bluetooth settings and tap on to manually initiate connection. You can use Siri with the command 'Hey Siri, connect to Bluetooth' to at least get to the right screen.

2 Tap on the device name of your car stereo. It should connect though it often took me 2-3 goes and a wait.

Hi. I had the exact same problem with my Subaru Forester 2014.

I read many forums and I sat down in my car. I got into the setup of the Bluetooth and I found my old iPhone 5s in some phone list. So I reinitialized the whole thing on the car sound system and on the iPhone and paired the iPhone 6s again with the call button from the steering wheel. Now everything works just fine. I'm glad.

Advice: Erase everything from the sound system and from the iPhone and do the whole process again. Maybe the system was always trying to find my old iPhone 5s and not connecting

Apple came out with a new version, 10.1.1 (14B150) check your iPhone for this version.

via: settings, general, about, version; if any thing less then 10.1.1 (14B150) you may have a bluetooth problem.

when apple downloaded 10.1.1 it was 10.1.1 (14B100)

any one with Bluetooth problems should download via iTunes.. to your iPhone or iPad.

First, backup your iPhone, etc, I am using a iPhone 5s.. via iTunes .. I'm sure it will fix later iPhones (6&7) the same way..

then reinstall or update your iPhone or iPad via iTunes. After update check your iphone for this version. Then restore your apps.. this may take some extra time to download. Don't disconnect your USB cable during this transfer.

Next, clear your car or truck and iPhone From any old connections. (Reboot Both). Turn off and restart..

NOW, connect via bluetooth. Something I heard was not all USB ports are as you think. Meaning they are only used to recharge your products battery. If you bought a Bluetooth product, it may not and was not intended to work via the USB port but only to charge the product. I don't think using a wired headset to your vehicle was intended. Check with your product manufacture. A bluetooth product is a Bluetooth product, and can not be used with a USB cable But only to charge the unit.. if you have a Bluetooth address (check under ABOUT in your settings on your iPhone) for your product you want to connect to your vehicle via Bluetooth. Again, i heard some USB ports are just for charging, and not to transfer music or other .. again not all vehicles are built the same but it is something to consider..

hope this helps, please let me know what you find out and if this article helps..

good luck
