Old Apple ID password request

Hi, due to my email account being compromised I changed my email and my apple ID. I have a 4s that I would like to erase but the phone has my old email address as ID. I can't do anything without entering a password for an ID that no longer exists. No matter what I do I can't get past the password request. I'm stuck - please help!
