how to spot a new in box fake MacBook Pro?

I found a great second hand deal on a new in box 2015 MacBook Pro.

the deal is too good to be true, but there is always the chance that it's real.

how do I check without opening the box if it's genuine? Does run the SN through https://checkcoverage.apple.com Is enough?

and if the SN cleared, how can I check if the MacBook Pro is genuine (after I open the box and turn on the mac)?

tnx 😉

If the box is still sealed and the "owner" doesnt let you open it it says either of the following:

- Hiding something

- Wants to sell a sealed product as it is always more desirable

If a deal is too good to be true, it is not. Dont believe sentences like "I am really broke and need money fast".

That thingy is most probably stolen!!!

Buying it wont hurt you until they start looking for it, or for the seller. From that point you are in trouble because you bought a stolen product, whether you knew it or not you are still in trouble.

Buy a second hand macbook from trusted sources, that is my main message here.
