Q: Playlist folder not auto-updating?

I have a playlist folder set up on iTunes on my Macbook.  I have several smart playlists inside this folder.  The playlists are programmed to "drop" songs and pick up new ones when certain conditions are met. Initially, before any songs are played, the playlist folder displays all songs.  However, once I start playing the folder and the conditions start kicking in, the song contents of the playlist folder don't change at all - even though the individual smart playlists are auto-updating themselves as expected.  I have the same setup on my Windows computer, and everything works fine there - the playlist folder updates automatically to reflect the contents of the ever-changing smart playlists inside it.

Any ideas why it's not working the same way on my Macbook?

I have the same problem with iTunes 12.5.1.21 and El Capitan.   I am unable to verify on a Windows Computer.   I am not sure when this started happening as I have have a large library and was having some problems so I set up a new itunes library and loaded all my songs on 07/26/2016.   I did not notice as the individual playlists were updating OK but when I selected the folder containing the smart playlists I could not find an album I recently added and discovered the folder did not contain any songs added after 07/26/2016.  So evidently this is not a new problem.  For some reason the folders do not update along with the playlists.  Have you found any solution?
