Q: What if i bought an iPhone (iPhone 5c) from somebody, but they forgot their password, and lost proof of ownership?

I bought a iPhone 5c from a school friend who purchased it a long time ago, but he lost proof of ownership. He has since then made a new account because he forgot the old one. I am stuck with this lost iPhone and I don't know what to do. Please help me.

It requires the Apple ID and password of the previous owner. If you don't have it and cannot get it, then the device is useless to you. Return it for a refund if you can.
