Q: keychain login issue after software upgrade

I installed turbo tax and could not get past the import.  Turbo tax wants to import keychain information and asked maybe 10 times.  It did not matter if I denied or allowed never got past import.

I have never used keychain or was not aware that I was.   I just downloaded the El Captain software yesterday.   Now I have started getting the access question on SAFARI ....which is driving me crazy.

Not having used keychain or not aware of using....I don't know whether to turn on or off.  Get past the issue on Safari.  Is my computer going to totally lock up?

Help anybody ?

Thanks

Please back up all data before proceeding.

Launch the Keychain Access application in any one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.

If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.

Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select

              Change Settings for Keychain "login"

In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.

If you use iCloud Keychain, open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the Keychain box. You'll be prompted to delete the local iCloud keychain. Confirm. Then re-check the box. Follow one of the procedures described in this support article to set up iCloud Keychain on an additional device.

Thanks Linc.  I did as you suggested but nothing was checked.  (Sorry it took me so long to get back but this frustrated me so I had to step off).

My problem I have never intentionally used keychain....So I do have have questions for you.

1)Should it be locked?  When I did try locking keychain ---safari would not function.  Would that be a true thing to happen?

2)When you installed the new operating system - did it change keychain settings?  I had never touched them.

    3) I can't get turbo tax to bring down last year's tax return because it gets hung in a loop.  Turbo tax folks tell me it is an Apple issue.

I did pull a backup before instilling El Captain or whatever it is called.

    Thanks.....

    Should it be locked?

    No.

    did it change keychain settings?

    No.

I can't get turbo tax to bring down last year's tax return because it gets hung in a loop.

Please launch the Keychain Access application and search your keychains for items with a name related to "Turbo Tax." Are there any?
