Q: iMac not starting

MY iMac does not start up. I get three quarters of the start up bar and it just hangs there. Keyboard and mouse do not respond so unable to soft boot or other options that involve keys. Any suggestions please?

    Hi Neilem,

I understand you are having trouble getting your iMac to start up.  Your profile doesn't indicate what operating system you are using?  Have you recently updated your software or made other changes to your system?  The resources below will provide some initial information and troubleshooting steps to figure out what is happening with your iMac.  If you are not able to start the computer up normally, then a Safe Boot may be a good initial step to try.   A wired keyboard and mouse will help you get past any bluetooth issues you may be having.   Please reply back after attempting these steps if the issue persists with any additional information, including error messages you see so that we can delve into this a little further for you.
