Q: can I use Siri while Apple watch is in nightstand mode?

Currently, I have an led alarm clock that projects the time on  the ceilng so that I don't need to look around to see what time it is if I wake up early by mistake.  now that I have an Apple Watch in night stand mode next to my bed, it would be cool to number 'hey Siri, what time is it' and get the time without opening my eyes!

Can this be done? The Apple Watch locks when it isn't on my arm. Siri does not appear to be wirking while it is locked

Apple Watch, watchOS 2.1, white sport band, aluminum

    Hi

No, it is not presently possible to use "Hey Siri" whilst Apple Watch is in Nightstand Mode (nor can Siri be used in this mode by pressing and holding the Digital Crown).

If you would like to suggest that Apple considers adding Siri support within Nightstand Mode as a new feature, you can do so here:

"Hey, Siri" on the iPhone works very well for this purpose, though.

Keep in mind that even if you could say "Hey Siri" while in Nightstand mode, Siri does not provide voice feedback.

so there is no way to do it. pity. If i need my iPhone around then the Apple Watch is superfluous as an alarm clock. I'd use my iPhone as it does both functions - display time, announce time, and support alarms.

I've already submitted it to Apolé feedback. my confidence in that system is low with 0

out of 323 enhancement suggestions implemented over 6 years.

Thanks to everone who took their time to answer my question. the nightstand mode won't be useful to me until siri can provide vocal reponses while in nightstand mode. Until then, I'll use my iPhone for displaying time and performing alarm clock functions.
