Q: iTunes 12.3.2.35 - Artists being split up

I've noticed while putting tracks on iTunes all the artists are being split up. There's no phantom spaces or anything, they just refuse to be grouped together:Screen Shot 2016-03-05 at 00.14.31.png

I tried fixing it via the sorting tab in get info, but it just caused even more of a mess. Any idea how I can fix this? I have a massive library so I can't just delete all the affected tracks, and the fact it keeps showing up on all my devices as different artists is making me very angry.

I have/had the same problem. I don't know what iTunes (latest version 12.3.2.35 running on Mac OS X 10.11.3 El Capitan) does and why but I managed to (temporarily?) solve the problem:

    1. Change the view in iTunes from "Artists" to "Songs" by sorting your music choosing "Songs" in the upper right drop down menu.
    2. Then select all the songs which have been split into multiple albums.
    3. Choose Information by pressing ⌘ I
    4. Enter a new name in the tags "artist" and "album artist" like e.g. "12345" (so you will be able to keep all songs together in one row afterwards)
    5. Check that the same new name (e.g. "12345" is used in fields "sort as " in the Sorting section for "album artist" and "artist".
    6. Confirm with "OK".
    7. Now check again changing the view to "Artists" in the upper right corner.
    8. All titles should show up with the new name (e.g. "12345").
    9. Repeat the steps 1. to 6. above but this time use the original artist name you would like them to be sorted.
    10. Problem solved!

I've tried this approach previously, but it's very uncertain as to when it works and when it doesn't. At the moment it's not working at all sadly.

I have the same problem & have tried all of the sorting methods. I noticed that "Album Artist" in sort as shows up as "Mixed". I tried just deleting the Sort As field, as well as putting #1, etc, but as soon as I go back into the Get Info, it's reverted back to "Mixed".

I tried the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store, and they weren't able to figure it out either. They said they'd submit all the information to the iTunes Engineers, but that was 6 months ago, and no one has a fix yet.

Have any of you been successful in resolving this yet?
