Q: Increase memory on MacBook late 2008

I have a MacBook 13-inch Late 2008 and I would like to increase the memory.  According to this site https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201165, it appears that my model is not capable.  Are there any other solutions outside of buying a new MacBook?

MacBook (13-inch Aluminum Late 2008), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

Although Apple's official specifications are 4 GB maximum you can in fact put in up to 8 GB (Apple's specs. often refer to things as they stood when the machine was first produced).  Look on the everymac.com web site for current specifications. That web site also has links to the OWC/macsales.com web site which has detailed instructions on how to upgrade, including a firmware upgrade.  They also sell good quality RAM (an I often am willing to pay the extra dollar or two because they provide such good Mac support) but Crucial is also a reliable brand with Macs. Avoid low grade RAM vendors which can raise issues with Macs.
