Q: Late 2013 27" iMac has incorrect LCD model installed
Hello, I have a late 2013 27" iMac (14,2) with a cracked screen. I ordered a replacement part after researching and finding the appropriate model. The late 2013 model uses an LM270WQ1(SD)(F2), which is what I ordered. When the part arrived, I took off the old screen only to find that the model on the old screen is listed as LM270WQ1(SD)(F1), which is a 2012 iMac screen. The new screen powers in but causes the fans to blare at 100 percent non-stop. The thermal sensor is installed, and I even tried using the old thermal sensor. I am wondering if this f1-f2 issue is causing the fans to blare at 100 percent. Swapping in the old (f1) back in solves it. Why does the late 2013 have an f1 model, which is for 2012 iMacs, and is this fiasco causing the fans to blare? I already reset smc (unolug for 15 Seconds, plug in, wait 5, and power on). Any help on this confusion is appreciated.
