I have version 10.9.5 on my OS X macbook. I am unable to force quit the app "Info File Professional". I am unable to delete it or even open it. I do not recall installing it. It is acting like a virus. Please advice on how I can get rid of it. It is not allowing me to open any downloads.

When I try to move the app to the trash, I get a message saying it can't be moved because it is open. If I try to open it, it says it can't be opened. Please help!

You can try and FORCE SHUT DOWN the app from the APPLE ICON on the top left.
Even if that does not help try and shutdown you mac. Once you PowerOn Again try and delete it again.

You can even try this:
1> Go to ACTIVITY MONITOR from the spotlight search or from the SYSTEM PREFERENCES-->TOOLS.
2> Go to Memory tab and choose the app that you want to stop from running in the background, choose the small 'x' button on the top left corner of your dialog box. (This will actually stop the app from carrying out any requests)
3) Now you can carry out the regular procedure of deleting the application from APPLICATIONS in the FINDER tab.

Did you try rebooting your MAC, as this can kill all the background processes and hence help you to delete it once again.
Or was it the possible to stop any background processes from the activity monitor?

I had the same problem but i found a solution to that. Go to finder and click on applications. Find "File info professional,
drag it to your trash. Type in your admin password. Hope this helps.
