Q: "Find My iPhone" Question
I tried to locate my son's iPhone from my Mac but his location was unavailable while every other linked device was found (I have four set up). This went on for about a half hour. A few minutes later we spoke and he says he was sending/receiving emails at the time. At that moment I logged back in, and this time his location was available.
Why would this happen? I find it hard to believe that sending and receiving emails would interfere with locating. Are there any circumstances where locating a device would be a problem? All of my devices are up-to-date and settings are correct.
Thanks in advance for help.

Sending / receiving emails is very likely not relevant to why the iPhone was not located. More likely was that the iPhone was off, or location services were turned off for Find My iPhone.
