Q: Restore text thread from Archive

I accidentally deleted a text message thread while using the Messages app on my Mac. The thread is still on my iPhone, & the thread is backed up in the Messages Archive (though that is organized by day, not contact), but I can't figure out how to move any of that back into the thread on my Mac's Messages App.

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Hi,

IF the Archive has the last part of the chat you can double click it and it will open both in a separate window and in the Main window.

If it is an iMessages sending a new messages to the same Contact is also likely to show you the "History"

Using the x that shows up next to the names in the Side Bar only dismisses the chat not Delete it.

    Hi Ralph,

Thanks for this response! Unfortunately, I've opened up other parts of the chat from the Archive folder, & while they will open in a separate window, they never appear in the main Messages window.

I assume you're right, that the "x" doesn't delete the chat, but I still can't seem to get the thread back into Messages on my Mac.

    Best,

    Jessica

    Huumm,

Can you send them a New Message ?

Does this then show the "History" ?

Whilst iMessages are always stored in the chat.db items and are more likely to show the "History" it should happen for Saved Chats as well.

If you can't find the last part of the chat that you expected to be saved I don't think I can explain that.
