We can likely help resolve the slowness:

Run this and post the results here so we know more about your configuration.

EtreCheck

To go back:

- backup your data

- Download the appropriate OSX installer. They should be listed in the Purchased section of the Mac App Store if you previously downloaded them with the ID you are using.

- Make a bootable USB media using the following:

DiskMaker X

- Boot from that media

- Format the startup disk and install OSX from the bootable media

- Restore your data

Slow performance after upgrading OS X on an older Mac is often caused by inadequate memory. Although you can install the upgrade on a Mac with 2 GB of memory, experience has shown that at least 4 GB is needed for full performance.

Select About This Mac from the Apple menu. If you have less than 4 GB of memory, and your model has upgradable memory, install as much as it can take, or at least that much. Any reputable RAM vendor will have a web form in which you can select the Mac model and be directed to compatible parts.

Memory in the MacBook Air is not upgradable. If that's what you have, you should restore the previous system from a backup, or replace the machine. Ask if you need guidance.

For Allan Eckert I do not understand how you arrived at that suggestion. The report includes stating that the startup dis has 113 GB free

Hitachi HTS543232L9SA02 disk0 : (320.07 GB) (Rotational)

EFI (disk0s1) <not mounted> : 210 MB

]\'[; (disk0s2) / : 319.21 GB (113.58 GB free)

Recovery HD (disk0s3) <not mounted> [Recovery]: 650 MB

For phillipfromlimestone what do you mean by slow? Spinning beach balls?

If you boot to Recovery

OS X: About OS X Recovery - Apple Support

try repairing/First Aid the startup drive
