can touch screen monitor be used to replace mouse and keyboard on a mini mac

I want to be able to take my mini mac in our RV. Space is always at a premium in an RV.

What I would like to do is use a touch screen with my mini mac. That would eliminate the mouse and keyboard. Can this be done?

I an looking to purchase a new mini mac later this year.

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

So with drives for El Capitan for the touch screen I can use the screen in the same way that I use my IPad? By this I mean there would be a key board on the screen and I could use the different finger swipes (2, 3 4 finger swipes) that I can use on my IPad?

What should I be looking for when purchasing a monitor other than it is compatible with a mini mac? Do I need to pay attention to what the drive will do or just that it is compatible with El Capitan enough to know? Do all monitors need to be hard wired to the computer or can they use blue tooth?

What I really wanted to do was to use my ipad to access my mini mac but to do that I would have to have an internet connection. So I am trying to come as close to that as I can with the touch screen.

What features you get with a touch screen with a Mac depends upon what features the developer incorporated into the drivers.

I doubt that any drivers support the compliment of gestures available on an iPad.

Al the touch screens I have seen were hard wired. Bluetooth is slow and there would be a lot of lag.

You just have to research to find what screen/driver work with El Capitan. I think you will be disappointed on what is available and the gestures they support
