I think I just saved $2K and a lot of frustration.  Have I read correctly that there is no way to use an iMac as an external monitor unless I'm connecting another Mac?  If so, that was a really stupid move on Apple's part.  I was literally walking out the door to go buy one, but I'm glad I did a bit more homework first.  I would primarily use it as a stand-alone but on days I work from home, I would need to connect my work laptop to it for use as an external monitor.  My work computer uses VGA or HDMI.  Too bad.  I like my Macbook Air but with all of these proprietary restrictions, I'm going to have to go back to  Windows.  It's ridiculous that a $2K machine would be so restricted... it should have ALL the bells and whistles and capabilities... not fewer.

At least I found out before I spent my time and money.
