My smart tv doesn't see my iMac drive

Hi there,


with my last pc i was able to open files on my hard drive through my smart tv. But since setting up my airport extreme and iMac that isn't possible. i can access the internet on the tv via wifi so it is seeing something.


This is my first mac and having some issues moving around it and understanding it.

As your second messages suggests this ability was almost certainly down to the fact your original PC supported the DNLA standard. Macs as standard do not include any DNLA capability, there is however a variety of DNLA compatible software available for the Mac so that you could in theory get this to work. However it could then be that you discover that some or all your media files on the Mac are in formats that are not compatible with your TV. Some DNLA software also has the capability to automatically convert (transcode) files to make them compatible with the device that wants to play them i.e. the TV.


See these as some possible options, I am sure there are others if you do your own searches.
