Importing CD to iTunes then iPhone 6s

I have purchased a CD from a shop

Popped it in my CD player of my laptop

iTunes says "do you want to import that CD?"

SO I say yes! because I want it on my phone

it imports OK

appears in my library

but I cant copy it to my phone!

I do not sync as I always, and I mean always end up losing playlists and music.

Can anyone help me to import MY CD to MY iPhone please?

it allows me to drag it over and a number appears on the drag with the number of tracks, but when I let go on my device it just goes away without any error or message.

Please can someone help me as this is driving me crazy!!
