Q: Powerpoint slides

I've been given a ppt presentation to add to a video. I converted the slides to jpegs but the type is still coming out fuzzy. Some of it is very small and I can't get it sharp. What's the best way to handle this?

Not very familiar with power point, but you are on the right track by exporting the individual slides.

Do you have a choice of the size (pixel dimensions) you can use when you export the slides?

Ideally you should export the slides in a size that does not require rescaling in FCP as rescaling the slides will impact the image quality.

PowerPoint gives you the option of what size (in pixels) you want the output. Select the one that corresponds with your production.

    Two other issues with PP.

    1. Often the colors are not broadcast safe. You may need to adjust for intensity and value.

    2. Often the layout does not respect the title safe area. You may need to shrink the slide to keep text inside that boundary.

    Have fun.

I'm not sure how to make the colors Broadcast Safe. The jpgs look fine in the preview window of FCP. But when I drag them to the timeline they get all crappy looking. I opened the slide in Photoshop but I don't know what to do there to make them look good either.

FIrst, what are the properties of the video you are editing the PowerPoint slides into?

Click anywhere in the timeline, and then type Command + 0 [zero] to see the sequence settings. Either report those sequence settings here, or

take a screen shot of the sequence settings and post that screen shot here.
