A remote IR sensor for Apple TV?

Good afternoon. Can anyone say if it's possible to fit a remote IR sensor to an Apple TV please?

We have Apple TVs fitted to large interactive display panels in classrooms. But the Apple TVs are fitted behind the panels and commands from the remote have to be 'bounced' off the classroom ceiling to get through, with varying success.

I'm wondering if a remote IR sensor, connected to the Apple TVs, and mounted so they are in line of sight, might be a solution.

Any suggestions please?

No physical connection needed. The repeater/extender has a IR receiver which is near your remote. It also has an IR transmitter which sits in front of the Apple TV and acts as a proxy remote.

The repeater/extender receives the IR signal from the remote, transmits it electronically to an IR transmitter which is placed in front of the Apple TV. That IR transmitter re-broadcasts the IR signals to the Apple TV.
