Q: I can't seem to register my macbook pro

I've been trying to register/validate purchase my MacBook Pro but it wouldn't let me. I'm not sure if the exact date I purchased it was wrong or something else. Could please help me validate my purchase ?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Not sure how/where you are trying to register it but that is not something you need to do. See Do I need to register my Apple product? - Apple Support

You may need to register AppleCare if you purchased that. The above link has information.

You can use the following to check your warranty: https://checkcoverage.apple.com

It isn't required for warranty but you may also want to update your support profile: https://supportprofile.apple.com/

I tried this method. I put my serial number and it worked but they asked me for the exact date of my purchased. I'm not sure if the date was correct. I don't remember as I don't have the receipt anymore. What else should i do to check my warranty ?

If you didn't register the machine, then your warranty info won't show up.

So, about when did you purchase it? If you cannot remember, it must have been some time ago?

If you are within the warranty period (less than one year), you will need the exact date and/or they may require a receipt if you should need to get a repair/service under warranty.

And, Applecare does have to be registered - if you purchased it somewhere other than at the time of your MBP purchase directly from Apple.

I know when I purchased it . It was sometime on June last year I just can't remember the day. I just need the warranty status as I'm selling it and they're asking for it.

Well, you may need to call Apple - if you never registered it, then that is why they're asking for the purchase date. I just checked mine and had no problem, but then it was registered with a validated purchase date. Did you buy it directly from Apple? That may be helpful as they may be able to find your purchase. If you got it elsewhere, I'm afraid I don't know of a way to validate/register it without having a purchase date or receipt.

FWIW, I always keep my receipts at the very minimum as long as the warranty has not expired.
