Q: ical not registering location

When trying to set a travel alert on iCal, I find two annoying problems:

first iCal often refuses to geo-tag the event (such as including the address details, and finding them on maps; even through I can copy & paste the same location details into Maps, which immediately finds the location).

secondly, if I can get the iCal to register the destination location, iCal then consistently lists my location as being the same spot (which is not where I am).  This feels like it's got a location stuck in it's cache, as it keeps claiming that my present location is this same location, regardless of where I am.
