Q: Changed system time after rebooting from Bootcamp

Hello

After a reboot from boot camp partition Windows 10. I have the wrong time, actually its always one hour later than it is.

Although in System Settings i have checked the "Get time from Appleserver" it does not refresh the time to its real value. Side note in Win 10 (BootCamp) the time is correct, so the difference is happening while rebooting in Mac OS.

System:

MacBook Pro early 2011

OS X El Capitan 10.11.3

Bootcamp

Win 10 latest version with all aviable Upgrades/Updates

What could be the problem?

Thanks for your help!

Is a Microsoft NTP server your Time Server? If yes, can you switch it to the same as the Apple one as shown on the OSX side?

Hi Loner, when you run a VM (I use Parallels) you can specifically set the VM to get its own time, or sync from OSX. Is that possible to do with Bootcamp W10?

VM has a Guest-Host relationship, unlike Bootcamp which runs native on the Mac hardware. Even if you import the BC partition as a VM, most drivers are still native. I have seen Microsoft NTP provide some garbage time information. In my case, Windows also uses time.apple.com.

    " VM has a Guest-Host relationship "

Yes that is why I asked. All my Windows PCs are Windows only, not macs.

So this can probably only be solved by having the correct time server. Thanks.

I would suggest configuring a standard non-Microsoft NTP server for Test. Bootcamp requires direct access to NTP, unlike what you can do with a VM.

Hold it Loner, I am just a bystander here, learning form the master. You have to support emga, I just waited for you to step in. I am learning from you.

No i haven't set an NTP server in Microsoft. in the screen shot it is only checked so i can see the settings and the possibilities to choose from, i did not save it.

I checked my settings; see attachment. Should i try to set both OSs to the same NTP server, is it possible that windows gets it time from euro.apple.com?

So both of you do not think that it has something to do with an official incompatibility with may MacBook Pro Model and Win 10 (as mentioned before)?

Thank you both for your help!

If the OS X side is set to time.euro.apple.com set the W10 side to be the same.

OS X with time synch set to time.euro.apple.com

Excellent. This confirms that W10 uses some bad NTP servers and does not work properly, till they are manually corrected. Thanks for posting back.
