Q: How do i safely erase a ssd drive so as i give it away.

Hi Folks

Was wondering if anybody can tell me how to wipe my ssd drive so as i can give it to my mate? I want rid of all my stuff on it and preferably back to factory settings.

when i first formated it, i didn't use trim or anything i just formatted in os extended journal, and put my os on it, then used Carbon copy cloner to slap all my gear on there.

It is greyed out in disk utility, for to erase, so would i have to do it by going through the close down/option key, and pick the drive that way and erase? Oh it was an external ssd  was using, and i still kept my original mac drive, just wanted a copy for taking out and about to plug in to other MacBooks with my own stuff on it. Worked great, but i am upgrading and giving this to a friend,

any help would be appreciated.

Kind Regards
