Making a photo book

Can I use my photos in Aperture to make a photo book?

iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

I am afraid, Larry is right:

See this post: Re: Is there any possibility to change the page layout in Books with the new Photos software. With Aperture, you could change the image sizes, specify the exact dimensions, change image positions on the pages, in a nutshell do everything you want.

On Aperture books, I think it is the end: I received a book designed on Aperture recently (one week ago) and I got a message telling me that after March 1st, 2016, it will no longer be possible to order a book via Aperture.

As a work-around, you could order your book using Photos for Mac.

  • Collect the photos you want to use for your book in an album, then select this album in Aperture, ctrl-click the album and select "Export > Album as new library".
  • Then open this library in Photos for Mac and create a book "File > New Book".

Any experience with Presto's print books léonie?

Thanks for the workaround tip.

I ordered a photo book today. First ever. I was awed by Aperture's photo book power. I think we shall never see the like again.

Incidentally, I ran into a serious problem with my order today. The first time I did it all seemed well until I got a brief error message flash, something like a 'connection could not be established'. Then return to photo book. A bug basically. Apple status said the order was done, but I feared it was an empty order.

I canceled and reordered. On reorder I didn't preview, I just bought. This time it showed proper upload activity of appropriate duration. I got a confirmation dialog with notice of EOL for Aperture print books.

I am glad you could still order your book. Great.

I have never used Presto's print service. All My Books have been by Apple.

Aperture has a few plug-ins for very high quality photo books. Perhaps you could try those.

Do you remember the date mentioned in that notice?
