Contacts Stuck

Contacts is stuck with circling while creating new distribution list. Tried closing & reopening....rebooted computer. Shut down computer overnight. Checked with Malwearbites for Mac. No change. in MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, El Capitan 10.11.3 Storage 8 mb,
