EEdit in a progressive project.
I think i am - the footage from the one cam still has those interlaced lines whenever there's motion in the clip. Any follow up thoughts? FCP 7 had an effect for de-interlacing, I'm not seeing anything like that here?
Please give exact details of your media and the project properties. You're saying that some of the clips appears deinterlaced in the progressive project but others don't? Post a screenshot of what you're seeing.
Where did this footage come from? It's in a format I've never seen before. Never heard of 1280x1080. I've heard of 1440x1080, but not 1280. The clip is already progressive. It looks like it may have been processed some how and scaled up while it was interlaced. Interlacing lines should be much finer than that, not as broad. Looks like there at least twice normal size.
What are the project properties? Cmd-J. Click modify settings. What's it say in the drop down sheet?
1280x1080 is a variant of DVCPro HD:

It is displayed via a 1.5 PAR.

TThanks Meg. A Panasonic format, probably from tape. FCP is seeing it as progressive. Still looks as if it's been scaled, maybe uprezzed from SD to HD?
We'll need the OP to report.
Haven't used that format for years.

If possible, upload a short section of one of your clips to a file sharing site. Provide a link so we can download and test firsthand.
Thanks.

Thank you all for the input. We've had a lot going lately (including my wife is due to give birth 'very soon'). FCP seems to comp automatically when the footage is rendered out and played. Frame by frame the interlacing does appear sometimes. It was shot on a Panasonic HDV via P2 cards - 1080i.
Recently I have been having substantial difficulty w/ sound I recorded. I recorded to a Tascam D-70 Audio recorder, 1 channel via shot-gun mic. The setting was on stereo in the recording unit (not necessary and I have since changed it to audio). FXP X has taken the audio and given me 'phase cancellation' in everything I've shot. It's been a terrible work around that I'm having to export all the audio to bring into the old SoundTrack Pro where I can correct that. Does anyone know of any tricks in FCP X to correct the Phase Cancellation?
Thank you Kindly!
Stephen
Switching to dual mono and disabling one of the tracks should do it.
Tom, thank you so much! That saved me a ton of work and stress. I spent 8 hrs the other day fixing a video the hard way. It's odd to say it - being we're seemingly only digitally connected - but your insight and help is a real token of friendship!
I had tinkered with the dual mono setting, but never thought to cancel the one (duh!).
On behalf of all those I'm doing these videos for, Thank You!
God bless,
Stephen
Hey Stephen
Just want to say Congratulations to you and family on new addition soon.
That's what is important. Everything else is small stuff.
Charge up the camera batteries and empty the cards and find an extra cam operator. Sounds like you have something to record.
Cheers, Best Regards
Greg
Thank you EcoGreg! Really appreciate the admonishing words!
