iTunes freezes when I click preferences

Just got a new laptop, Dell XPS 13 9350, i7-6560u CPU, running Windows 10. I copied over my iTunes folder from my old laptop, downloaded and installed iTunes, but whenever I click edit>preferences it freezes completely and has to be stopped in task manager. I've tried reinstalling iTunes, I tried deleting the old library and preferences files from the iTunes folder and then reinstalling iTunes. It still happens every single time. The laptop is brand new, this really shouldn't be happening.

I just set up my PC with a new disk and started to get 'freeze' problems with iTunes. I am using the latest 64 bit version 12.3.3.17 on Windows 10. iTunes completely froze if I did Edit - Preferences or if I plugged in an iPhone etc. I also had problems with Apple Mobile Services refusing to start. I tried lots of things but what fixed it for me was a complete removal of Apple software (not just iTunes but Apple software update, Apple mobile device support, Bonjour, Apple App Support 32 and 64 bit). Follow the instructions at: Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later - Apple Support

After that I did a regular iTunes install and now everything is just fine.

Hope this helps
