Q: Whats the best file size to create a animated logo

I'm trying to animate a corporate loge for an opening graphic for a video. Can you recommend what files size and resolution is best? If I can only get a JPEG will the same file size specifications apply.

I'm envisioning opening the file in Photoshop, selecting and separating the logo into layers and using the layers as separate items to move them together as the motion logo.

All your thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help.

that's exactly how I would do it (too).

Paint apps have wonderful tools to bump-out parts of a picture, or to 'flatten' areas (cleaning/denoising jpg artefact)...

concerning size/resolution: depends on the 'action', if you don't zoom in, 1920x1080=video hires, is good enough, If you do some z-axis fun (fly thrus), a much higher res is needed.

suggestion: if the logo contains fonts/text and/or simple shapes, I would re-enact that in MotIon. 'cause it acts like 'vector graphics' = resolution independently, as in this example:

    TThanks for the reply.

Is 100 fine for the dpi.

Since most clients will give me a graphic already sized for print would 8.5/11 @300 dpi be large enough to so some soothing motion?

no such thing as dots-per-inch, nor a" x b" dimensions in video.

any screen. tiny 5" control monitor or 70" plasma = all same res, 1920x1080. (in phototerms: 2 megapixel...)

Do the math youself, how much (or less) dpi that is

    a 1920x1080 with 300dpi looks same in video as a 1920x1080 2dpi

diff. story with UHD/4k, that is ~8 megapixel, why stills from that look decent in print ...

but, trying not to get too academic here; generally, a 8x11/300 should work

check the file is RGB, not, e.g. a CMYK.

… no such thing as CMYK in .... oops, sorry

    finally:

colors (and contrasts) differ btw print and video - fingers crossed, your clients are not fashion-industry or car-makers - those get really iffy about 'correct colors'....
