Can't rent movie in Apple TV iTunes Store

You might try restarting your network router and trying again.

Same issue has been happening to me too, so this is useful starting point. Will post with results.

Are you trying to rent from the correct store location.

same here. Router and box restarted with no success.

Is this an issue that is limited to the UK store?

Same problem here, can't rent or purchase movies.

Have rebooted everything that can be rebooted, signed out of iTunes and back in again etc. - still not working.

Same Apple TV 4th generation, except for my trying to purchase a movie.

1. Reboot, had no effect.
2. The Apple ID was used to purchase the movie on my Mac, then played on the ATV so it is also not an issue of Apple ID.
3. Remote is fully functional, TV volume, menu, etc

I personally, went for a clean slate, and reset the ATV. I know most will not likely go that route. I however don't mind clean slates.

The only thing that was problematic upon a clean start was the remote would not pair just by clicking. I had to manually pair the remote as listed in step 2 here. Set up your Apple TV (4th generation) - Apple Support

However after the initial setup, and Apple ID sign in, my purchases went thru in just a few seconds.

BTW, USA store in my case.

Same problem here. Crashes on load symbol. Network is fine for Netflix and trailers in Movies. If I do a restore, will all my son's save games be deleted? And will I have to download all the apps again?

Good news here too. Performed a restore this afternoon and can now purchase and rent moves before. Looks like a bug to me. Will file as per usual route.

same problem on my Apple TV. I don't want to reset or restore as I'm sure there would be problems with some games.

I would silently hate Apple and use old ATV to rent movies.

I tried to login to another account, I logged out completely and deleted acoounts, but the problem persistes

I had the same problem. I had purchase restrictions turned on where you have to enter a 4 digit passcode to buy/rent. I turned off restrictions and I was able to rent a movie. I turned the passcode restrictions back on. We'll see if it happens again.
