windows 10 and Itunes will not find ipod shuffle

hello. I just purchased a new ipod shuffle (gen 4) and right out of the box all three of my windows 10 pcs will not find it. I have contacted apple and they sent out a replacment shuffle but the same thing is happing with this replacment as well. the odd thing is that all three computers will charge the shuffle but will not find it in the "file explorer" I have iTunes on all three computers as well and iTunes will not find the shuffle as well. what can I do to get the shuffle to work so I can add music to it or is it not even compatible with windows 10.

First, make sure the USB docking cable plug is fully inserted into the iPod's headphones jack, as shown in this document. It should "click" into place.

If you are getting it to charge, that may not be the problem, but it's possible it can charge while not connecting if the plug is not properly aligned with the connection points in the headphones jack.

If that's not the problem, when you connect it, watch the shuffle's light. Does it blink or is it solid (ON and not blinking)? Blinking means Do no disconnect - Eject iPod before disconnecting. That means there is a data connection. If the light is solid, the iPod is treating the connection as power-only (like connecting it to a USB power adapter).

the jack is fully plugged into the headphone port. when you plug the cable into the computer the light is solid green (no blinking). I also have the shuffle switched on when it is connected to the computer. I have tried it both switched on and off and same issue. this is the replacement shuffle that apple sent. they replaced it under warranty and the new one is doing the same thing as the original one did.

If the shuffle's light is solid (not blinking), the shuffle is not making a data connection to the PC for some reason. The power switch setting should not matter, but for testing purposes, it is better to be in the OFF position.

As a test, shut down the computer and disconnect all USB devices. You can leave standard USB keyboard/mouse connected, if used. Start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect iPod to a direct USB port on the computer, by itself. Is there any difference when the iPod is the only connected USB device?

As another test, do you happen to own a USB hub that is self-powered? That is, one that has its own power supply that plugs into power outlet instead of drawing power from the USB port. If you do, connect the UBS hub to computer and connect shuffle to the hub. It would better if this hub is an older one with USB 2.0 (not 3.0).
