Q: Spotlight Search Problem with iCloud

I want to find emails and notes on my MacBook I have written about iCloud.  However on my MacBook if I do a Spotlight Search on the word iCloud it includes all notes, events, reminders, etc. that are saved on iCloud versus showing only documents that contain the term iCloud.  It will show me documents that do not have the word iCloud anywhere in them.  This seems to be a problem only in OS X because when I do a search on an iPhone it works appropriately and shows only documents or events that contain the word iCloud.  Apple, why have you implemented Spotlight Search this way and do you plan on fixing it?

Thank you,

Jim

I still don't know how to search for the word iCloud.  I am thinking Calendar just won't let me do it.

If the word "iCloud" is in the title of the event, I can search for it in Calendar by typing

       title:iCloud

    in the search box.

Luis, thank you so much for your input.  I think I have figured out how search is working within the Calendar application.  I will save trying to figure out spotlight search for another day.  :-)

Apple OS X El Capitan  Search Behavior within the Calendar Application

    • If a single event is created it will always show up in a Calendar search regardless of it’s date
    • If a repeating event exists with no modification only times that are in the future will show up regardless of any attachments (notes, URLs, etc.) or no attachments (notes, URLs, etc.)
    • If a repeating event exists with no modification none will show up if they are all past the current date regardless or any attachments (notes, URLs, etc.) or no attachments (notes, URLs, etc.)
    • If a repeating event exists and a single event is modified that single event will always show up in a Calendar search regardless of its date even if it is saved and then later changed back to its origination (for example, a note may be added and then later deleted to that single event)

Searching for the word iCloud with the Calendar Application

    • Type iCloud in the Calendar search and a drop-down menu will appear with three options
    • Select the second option Title for events containing iCloud in their title
    • Select the third option Notes for events containing iCloud in their notes
    • Do not select the first option or you will receive all events in the calendar even if they do not contain the word iCloud in their title or notes section

Thanks again for all of your help!

    Jim
