real or fraud : notification.apple.com-security.sit

Hello everyone,

For the 2nd time while checking some information on an internet page, Safari opened a new page with this url ****://notification.apple.com-security.sit/ saying that I have virus on my computer. It gives also information linked to my area and my IP address.

Can someone let me know if this is really from Apple?

Do I need to bring my computer to an apple reseller for virus checks?

I use avast and it is clean.

Thanks for your information

It is not from Apple. Any such message will be a scam.

Force quit Safari, then restart Safari while holding the shift key.

Phony "tech support" / "ransomware" popups and web pages

One, it's a scam. Apple would never use a pop-up that hijacks your browser to give you any message, and Apple wouldn't know if there was a virus on your computer or if there wasn't. Also, there are no viruses for OS X, not like there are for Windows. Two, uninstall Avast. Macs do not need any kind of anti-virus program. The kinds of issues Apple users need to be aware of are malware and adware, but unlike viruses, which install themselves, malware and adware are downloaded and installed by you, mostly from downloading things from aggregate download sites or torrents.

To get rid of the browser hijacker, Force Quit Safari ( --> Force Quit --> Safari), then restart it in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift key. This prevents any previous tabs/windows from reopening.
