You will not lose data, but it can cure some glitches.
Did you try to turn up the volume while on a call?

Mar 9, 2016 2:28 AM in response to fireperryby SunOfRa78,If you have ruled out all software possibilities, you may have a faulty earpiece speaker or flex which the speaker makes contact with. Or even a faulty audio IC (audio chip on the motherboard).
Try recording a voice memo and listening back through the earpiece. If you don't hear anything, you have a faulty speaker or flex. If you can hear something, then there is likely a problem with the Audio IC.
