Photos for MacApple has not announced the contents of the next release so no one knows -
there are apps in the App store now that can do some of that now like like Lookout

Tried the Lookout app for 24 hours. Had to delete it because it told me I was going out of range of my phone about every 15 minutes. I wasn't moving.

A 3rd party app will not work on this level. For Apple - Something so obvious!! I sure hope they will implement this. They already have the Connected / Disconnected indicator. A few lines of code to add.
Then again, I did wait 3 years for Apple's integration of the stylus API for iPad.

In theory, it should. Some people have reported it's working fine for them.

Don't see the need for this myself but, if enough people submit feedback, perhaps Apple will consider it.
