Q: Inappropriate content highlighted by apple tv

Anyone know how I can hide "Hot Girls Wanted" from Netflix being highlighted at the top of my Apple TV that is used everyday by my 10, 8, and 6 year old boys???

Ridiculous.

You can press and hold on the app using the remote to move it to another row

Arrange and hide apps on your Apple TV - Apple Support

    Read this:http://help.apple.com/appletv/#/atvbad14dc6a

It explains the top row content preview function that is giving you grief.

Thank you this helped.  I wasn't aware that this "highlighted" content w/o opening the app is only shown for the top row apps.  I will give that a try.

Still I find it ridiculous that Apple or Netflix would choose something like that to display front and center on the home screen. I know for a fact that it wasn't selected based on past viewing habits.  So it's either completely random or it's something that Apple or Netflix decided to highlight and promote.

That would be based on something Netflix is promoting through the app

I completely agree.  It's one thing to seek out movies like that, but they should show some discretion in displaying those randomly in preview mode.  There are other posts on this site from teachers trying to use the Apple TV in the class room as a tool and getting inappropriate previews just like yourself.  They resolved it by moving the apps from the top row but not before being embarrassed by involuntarily showing the kids.  The sad part is you don't know what is going to appear as the previews on any given day, so it is not like they saw this stuff setting up the Apple TV.

Apple incorporated this feature in the Apple TV to promote the content in the apps that offer content.

As you said it was Netflix in this particular case, I would contact them and complain about the types of previews being offered up and suggest they reevaluate the criteria they use to select these.
