Q: WE have 2 macbookpros  10.10.5--we recently switched to gmail.  Now when one of us deletes an email on one computer ---it is deleted on both computers.  How do we stop this so both computers operate independent of the other?

we have 2 macbookpros 10.10.5----we recently changed to gmail.   now when my wife deletes an email on her mac....that email is also deleted on my mac---and if I delete an email on the same account ----that email is deleted on her computer---we do not want this to happen---we want the actions on one computer to be independent from the actions on another computer.

How do we stop this?

My first recommendation is that you each get your own email account. They are free. If you decide not to do that, change the Gmail settings to POP3 rather that IMAP. If you log into Gmail through your browser, go into Settings, then Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Change to Enable POP for all mail.
