Hi!
I bought this Buffalo MiniStation external hard drive and it works perfectly fine whit my schools Windows computers. But when I try to use it with my Mac Mini it says that the file is write protected so I can't edit or save my files, I can only open those.
Do I have to download some software or do I have some prevention setting on that I don't know?
Please help me!

Windows & Macs use different formats - Macs are smart enough to be able to read some others
Most external drives come formatted NTFS which is a PC format.
A Mac can't natively write to a NTFS formatted drive but there are apps like
That allow a Mac to write to an NTFS formatted drive.
To use the drive with both windows and Mac, reformat the drive to MS DOS (FAT) in: Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility > Erase
Just not that with FAT (32) the max file size is 4 GB.
A Mac and PC can both read and write to an exFAT partitioned drive. However, some users have experienced problems especially if the drive was formatted on a Mac.
