Q: Connect says I need an iTunes Store account when I already have one

Hi there,

I've made a iTunes Store account through the iTunes (windows) app to get my podcast on the store. But no matter what browser I load the Podcasts Connect website in, it always tells me that I need and iTunes Store account despite already having one. Note I DID select "None" for the payment method when making my account - do I really have to put in my credit card information just to put my podcast on iTunes?

Thanks

Their documentation implies that you should enter a credit card number, then change it to 'None' if you don't want it there. Of course the account you've created isn't just for podcasting, it's assumed that you might wish to purchase music. However if you've managed to create an account (which you could do with the ID you log in here with, or create a new Apple ID) and are signed in in the Store within iTunes, then you should be able to proceed at Podcasts Connect.

If you can't, your best bet would be to contact Support. Go to https://itunespartner.apple.com/en/podcasts/overview and click the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of the page.

I have the same problem. I am stuck in an endless loop of signing into my account, then getting bumped back to the Podcast Connect screen that says "Podcast Connect requires an iTunes store account". To which I am already clearly logged into. I can log out and back in, but still every time it just comes up to that page no matter what I do. Any answers would be beneficial.

It appears to be a problem with the DDE link between your browser and iTunes.

To resolve this, just go to iTunes, sign in with your chosen Apple ID, goto iTunes Store, scroll to the bottom, and click on "Podcasts" under the Explore column. Once there, click on "Submit a podcast" from the right hand menu still inside the iTunes Store, this will use your credentials to logon Single Sign-On through your browser.

Worked for me as of 17-06-2016 on a Windows PC running Chrome / Edge.

    Hi Pico,

To be specific, the FAQ says:

An Apple ID that has been activated in iTunes is required.

    (Bold emphasis mine)

do I really have to put in my credit card information just to put my podcast on iTunes?

    No.

Select "None" as the payment type. Report back!

did you have any luck? I'm having the same problem. Don't want to enter a credit card for this particular account.
