Q: Storage confusion!

Hello! I checked my storage today and it told me that I have 140 TB of backups on my HD which is only 750 GB...very confused.

 

I am all backed up as of today onto an external drive so not sure what this means!

There seems to be a bug in the software and it does not alway report the space properly.

If you want accurate information about how much space is left you can use Finder and then click on the drive and then on get information.

 

You could also try re-indexing spotlight. Spotlight: How to re-index folders or volumes - Apple Support

 

Try downloading and installing OmniDiskSweeper:  OmniDiskSweeper

OmniDiskSweeper will sort your files by size and show you where they are located. See the following video on OmniDiskSweeper. Using OmniDiskSweeper
