Q: Bootup

HI,

My iPod suddenly not boot up after a long time.

I m not too sure about the iOS as I ca turn it on. When centre button depress, Apple logo shiown then it prompt "www.apple.com/support/iPod."

Sometime, it prompted "please wait battery very low." It doesn't help even charger was used.

if kept trying with the charger on/off, sometimes it prompt " connect to computer for reload"

Could it be a problem of hard drive or I didn't update software.

Thanks

iPod classic, iOS 4.1

iPod classic does NOT run iOS of any version.  It has its own iPod software.

Try doing a Reset (restart) of iPod

Learn how to reset your iPod - Apple Support

If the battery is still low, you can do this while the iPod is connected to power.

If you get back to the same error screen, try putting the iPod into Disk Mode

Putting iPod into Disk Mode - Apple Support

If it goes into Disk Mode, run iTunes and connect it (if it's not already connected).  If iTunes picks it up, it may prompt you to do a Restore with a message about "recovery."  If you're OK with erasing the iPod, tell iTunes to proceed with Restore.

If the iPod does not go into Disk Mode, it may have a faulty hard drive.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your advise.

FYI, I can't proceed with the rest, restore or disc mode as the unit don't even bootup.

So I presume it could be hard drive problem & get ready for a new one. I gave it a last try & leave it on the desk without charging. It kelpt displaying Apple logo, then "www.apple.com support/ipod", then "please wait battery too low".

Just now when I am home and found it was back to normal, but need to charge as battery running low.

So I plug it to PC and it sync and prompted not to disconnect. It took a while to settle down, but I had no idea whether it works or not after shutting down.

According to iTune info,  software version 1.3 is the latest. for model: MA444ZP. will share the out come for this unit.

    Thanks & Regards,

    SW Thong
