Q: Can't load iCloud Preference pane

My 2007 MacBook and 2010 MacMini went through the migration to ElCapitan with minor trouble and were running without incident after a couple weeks.

Then, a month later, the logic board of the MacBook gave up the ghost. I put the MacBook hard drive in an external USB enclosure and used Migration Assistant to the MacMini. There is a new user, the former MacBook, that I can log onto. I was disappointed at first, thinking Migration Assistant would have blended the MacBook and MacMini, but on reflection understand that this expectation was over reaching. I was happy to have my apps from the MacBook available now on the MacMini.

BUT, it is like the doctor who proclaims that the surgery was a success, but the patient died.

Years of Calendar have disappeared from all the Users on the MacMini AND on my iPhone and iPads.

The Preference Error: Can't load iCloud preference pane continues despite my attempts to log on using the correct username and PW.

This is likely the culprit. I have shut down, restarted, etc. multiple times. No iCloud success and lost years of iCalendar data is calamitous.

Help.

    For iCloud:

    - Try resetting the SMC and NVRAM/PRAM

    - Try starting in Safe Mode

    Applications
Mar 9, 2016 1:38 PM in response to Bruce Seidner

Please launch the Console application in any one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

              View ▹ Show Log List

from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take an action that isn't working the way you expect. Select any lines that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

Some private information, such as your name or email address, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

If you have an account on Pastebin, please don't select Private from the Paste Exposure menu on the page, because then no one but you will be able to see it.

Linc - i'm having the same issue here - i suddenly got a password change popup on my icloud, changed password (el capitan beta using) and for past few weeks - icloud and internet preferences pane crashes upon opening, icloud prefernces crashes on all ipad and iphones i have...i can not log in at all to icloud on a new device - just goes 'verifying' and then stops, leaving me at login screen...i have tried all types of things to delete .plist files from Library folder etc - nothing has worked....i have temporarily been able to use icloud/internet account pref by going to keychain access and searching "icloud" - but then it quickly re-crashes after...not helping me at all...in  Console i see crash reports always referring to the same files: accountsd, internetaccounts, icloudaccounts, mobileme application group, com.apple.icloudhelper.xpc.........any idea what is going on and how to fix?  a 'senior apple tech' referred my case to engerineers, havent herad back yet...
