Samsung 850 EVO won't unmount or format

Hello,

My Samsung 850 EVO which is brand new won't unmount/format inside my MacBook Pro 2011 running Yosemite. The SSD seems to be working fine externally, but when I hook it up inside my MacBook Pro the computer runs really slow, takes forever to load apps(disk utility) and hardly even is able to run Finder. I can't seem to get the SSD which I use as a secondary drive to work properly or even Read/Write to it. I think I have Trim enabled I have also did the Kext thingy.

I am running Yosemite, 2011 MacBook Pro with 16GB RAM and a 256GB Samsung 840 Pro Series.

Did you first partition and format the new SSD? Use Disk Utility to check it the SSD is set up to use GUID and formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled. Be sure to check your internal installation to be sure the ribbon cable is installed correctly.

The 850 EVO is being detected, I can format the drive and partition it externally. When I try it with it installed on the MacBook it crashes Disk Utility. I have gotten it to format to Mac OS Extended, Journaled and setup as GUID. Some reason it is still not working correctly.

Replace the internal (SATA) interconnect from the drive to the LB.

I have connected the 850 via both SATA connections. I was using the DVD drive as my expansion bay. Could it be an issue with Yosemite itself? Last time I formatted an SSD internally I was using Mavericks.

I already said what I thought it was, the SATA cable, I see no reason to change that.

Currently my 840 Pro is using my main SATA cable. The drive has no issues. When I connect my 840 Pro to the DVD Optical Drive cable it still works. When I do the same thing with my 850 EVO I start having problems. Seems like the SATA cables are working alright.

Contact Samsung technical support. I would be very interested what they have to say.

There have been problems with the Samsung EVO 850 experienced by some users on these forums.

I think the issue could be SATA cable? It's strange cause it is mounted in my optical drive location. Seems to be no direct fix for the issue. Wondering if it's just the 850EVO. My 840 Pro Series as my main boot drive works excellently.
