Note that in terms of storage space, media files often take up the most space. For more information on determining how your storage usage is allocated, you may also find this article useful:

Mar 11, 2016 8:57 AM in response to ATJWby elcpu,iCloud, regardless of its name, is not a true cloud storage. It's main purpose is to sync files across Apple devices and it works fine for that. I would recommend 3rd party cloud storage like Google Drive (available from the App Store for free, 15 GBs). You can then upload any files and access them from any device. I use it and it works well. Regarding saving space, as Brenden mentioned Pages files are not large unless they contain a lot of graphics. Plain documents take little space. Photos, Music, and other media consume the most of the storage.
