Prefer SD Video, Not Working

Does this option still work for purchased copies of movies through iTunes?

I have selected prefer sd version in summary of iPad, but a purchased movie from iTunes is still transferring to device as HD (and thus consuming ~4Gb of space)

It always amazes me that content purchased through iTunes is always the hardest to actually work with and get what you want out of.

WHY IS ALWAYS SO ANNOYING!!!!
