Os x 10.11.3 El Capitan printing without postscript option on Xerox 7225

Hi there,

I know that there is a solution to this but I cannot find it online. What I need to do is to print from Photoshop on various Mac platforms using Xerox 7225 and 5335 series without having to buy postscript option for Xerox printers.

A friend of mine used to do this by altering some commands from terminal window and Safari but I had no chance to see what he was doing. Any of you guys know what I am talking about? I am open for suggestions.

What I have already done is to select "Generic PCL Laser Printer" instead of the driver that was downloaded from Xerox. Doing this allows you to print gayscale even though you need to print in color. However print quality is awful. Plus printer status always show incorrect info such as low toner, low ink, no paper...

I have tried using the driver on Xerox website, but the printout would only give you a message saying "The job was not printed because PostScript option is not enabled. Contact System Administrator to enable Postscript on this device" meaning an additional purchase.

Thanks.

Xerox WorkCentre 7225 is an Office MFD. PostScript is an optional purchase. Xerox does not develop PCL drivers for that model and many other of that category MultiFunction Printers.

If you work with Mac, be sure to choose a printer that has PostScript by default beforehand.

Anyway as a workaround you can try this

As you wrote the only way to print on Xerox printers without PostScript language is to use the Apple's "Generic PCL" driver, but you'll be missing most of the advanced printer's features. You cannot print in color even though the 7225 is a color MFD.

The 5335 is a Phaser or WorkCentre?

The Xerox Phaser 5335 has PostScript by default.

The command you mentioned in your post is

but don't expect to do magic accessing the CUPS system configuration page.
